In 2015, PKN ORLEN received the Corporate Certification Award granted by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), the world’s largest organisation in the procurement sector. The certificate attests to the international standards applied by the Company in procurement processes.
In 2015, work was underway to draft the 'Code of conduct for PKN ORLEN Suppliers', designed to support PKN ORLEN’s suppliers in implementing and maintaining best practices based on the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainability. Since April 2016, the Code has been a key document containing fundamental principles underlying relations with stakeholders. It has also been incorporated as an integral element of vendor qualification procedures in the procurement process. Through the guidelines contained in the Code, PKN ORLEN will encourage and motivate suppliers to seek consistent improvement in line with the social, environmental, ethical and corporate governance principles.
In 2015, around 10,000 bidders participated in over 12,000 procurement processes. The ORLEN Group cooperated with over 22,000 suppliers. In most cases, our trading relations with suppliers are long-term to ensure that the ORLEN Group’s requirements are satisfied in a reliable manner. As a trading partner, the ORLEN Group offers large scale of operations, financial strength, reliability, and growing spending development projects.
Suppliers provide raw materials and services necessary for the ORLEN Group to run its operations. Our purchases are related to investments, production and maintenance projects; we buy electricity, biocomponents, supplies for service stations, production chemicals, and general-purpose supplies (administration, IT, professional services, logistics). In 2015, we purchased goods and services in 463 procurement categories.
